Collections and Research
The Museum’s collection numbers over 10,000 items ranging from objects to archives, including research papers, family histories, maps, gravestone inscriptions, photographs, house histories, etc. Materials can be searched using our online catalog.
The collection is available for in-person research by appointment only. This gives staff the necessary time to access and pull material prior to your arrival. Appointments may be requested by emailing museum@gunnlibrary.org at least 48 hours in advance. Please include information about the materials you wish to see in your email.
All researchers must comply with the Connecticut Room Usage guidelines.
Reproduction Requests:
Items in our collection can be reproduced for a fee. Please refer to our Photographic Services Policy. Contact the Collections Manager for more information: ctabolt@gunnlibrary.org
Artifact Donations:
The Museum acquires new items for its permanent collection through the generosity of individual donations and/or bequests. Due to space and care requirements, all donations must be carefully considered.
Please contact the Museum Curator (acampanaro@gunnlibrary.org) before dropping off or mailing any material – we want to make sure that your potential gift is properly identified and safeguarded. We ask that you provide a detailed description of the material you wish to donate, photographs, and its connection to Washington. For the health and viability of the collection, the Museum will not accept donations unless they are truly unique or of singular historical value.
Unsolicited donations are generally not accepted and may be returned or disposed of without notice.
