Special Program – Donna Marie Merritt reads Hush That Hullabaloo!

Connecticut author, Donna Marie Merritt ,will read her newest children’s book Hush That Hullabaloo! at the Gunn Memorial Junior Library on Thursday, October 5, at 3:30. Children will learn some Scottish words and will join the grandmother’s soothing refrain. The story will be followed by a children’s craft and book signing, and the book will be offered at the discounted price of $15 to those in attendance. Wee Scotty dog shortbread cookies are an added treat. Och aye!

Hush That Hullabaloo! is a rollicking, rhyming, read-aloud set in Scotland, full of Scottish words that will delight readers as they repeat the catchy phrases and imitate a Scottish brogue. Grandpa Goose is grouchy as the lads and lassies make a mess in his “hoose” and lots of noise—a hullabaloo! Grandma says:
“Wheesht, wheesht,
It’s only the wee ones.
Wheesht, wheesht,
Only the wee ones.”
Will you figure out what the hullabaloo is all about before Grandpa Goose does?
Join in on the fun with this wonderful opportunity to meet an author and enjoy her playful Scottish story.  Registration is requested.  Please call 860-868-2310 or email
